Ride
for Life is a motorcycle ride to raise money and awareness in the fight against
HIV disease and AIDS. In October
1997, Shanti held our first ever Ride for Life from San Francisco to Napa
Valley. Over 100 motorcyclists
joined together in a pledge event to raise over $11,000 for Shanti services.
The Ride for Life has become the beginning of a new tradition to promote
rides for motorcycle enthusiasts in the Bay Area and all over California.
The
2nd Annual Ride for Life was the next link in this riding tradition.
Held again in October and organized by Shanti staff, volunteers and past
ride participants, motorcyclists enjoyed a scenic cruise from San Francisco to
the Russian River on Sunday, October 18, 1998.
As
a Ride for Life participant you are urged to enlist sponsors who pledge money
for your ride. $25 per bike is all
it takes to participate in the Ride, but the additional money raised will go to
those living with HIV and AIDS in San Francisco and also determine the prizes
you receive. Last year, the average
person raised $150. But don't be
average, raise $300! The top fundraiser will get a surprise weekend getaway!
